Coalitions weaken the bound
An attacker who controls a member pool can skew its reserves to drag the aggregate toward the quote they want.Divergence is not proven to be toxicity
Knot bounds a quote to the curve implied by the sum of participating reserves. That virtual curve is a policy reference, not a route that is guaranteed to be directly executable. It does not follow that the flow it clipped was toxic, and that distinction is worth stating plainly because the pitch is easy to overstate. Tested separately against real Base data, across 67,743 swaps in every multi-pool pair family with enough volume:
In this sample, greater raw divergence was associated with better subsequent LP markout. A
narrower directional split had the opposite sign across the two buckets. Neither observation is
causal. The honest description of this hook is therefore reserve consistency, not toxicity
filtering.
The adversarial results in Results are constructed sequences and are
mechanically real: the bound does bind, and the round trip does flip to a loss. What is not
settled is whether the flow it bounds is the flow LPs actually lose to.
Sample-size caveat, stated as it was recorded: only four multi-tier pair families exist in the
resolved Base set and one dominates. This is a directional signal, not a definitive verdict.
Structural constraints
New pools only
New pools only
A pool’s hook address is fixed at creation, so existing pools cannot join a federation. Knot
applies to pools deployed into one from the start.
Non-member pools stay exploitable
Non-member pools stay exploitable
Anyone can permissionlessly deploy a pool outside the federation for the same pair. Knot
protects its members, not the pair universally.
The aggregate is not an oracle
The aggregate is not an oracle
It is an internal reference derived from member reserves. It is not a fair-price feed and
should not be consumed as one.
Non-standard tokens
Non-standard tokens
Fee-on-transfer, rebasing and callback-bearing ERC-20s are negative-tested and unsupported.
A forced negative rebase can make PoolManager claims undercollateralized even though KNOT’s
books remain internally consistent. Native ETH is lifecycle-tested separately.
Ordinary sandwiches can remain profitable
Ordinary sandwiches can remain profitable
In the balanced-member fixture, KNOT lowers a closed sandwich portfolio from about 1.803279
token0 profit to about 0.393701; it does not eliminate it. The skewed-member fixture closes at
a 1.347578 token0 loss. These are fixtures, not a universal sandwich guarantee.
